Maureen Valli

For the past 20 years I had a dream job of buying, renovating and selling fixer-uppers. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of transforming dated and neglected homes into beautiful spaces. Knocking out walls to create space was my thing. The end result was open, fresh, and modern. I have since found that decluttering, has the exact same effect. Yes, purging outdated, unloved or unused stuff and finding a home for those things you love and need, create a feeling of order, spaciousness, and pride.

 

In 2023 I relocated to Los Angeles after downsizing from a 4,000 sq ft home to a 1,100 sq ft condo. I got to work giving away, selling, and donating years of home furnishings and clothes. I brought with me those things that give me intense joy. It's been a fresh, new glorious start.

Over time, I developed sustainable systems that designate an obvious home to everything I own. It gives me great pleasure to share my  methods so that you can enjoy the effect of your newly edited home.

GET AN ORGANIZER! IT IS WORTH IT

I just moved into my dream apartment and wanted to make sure that my new closet space was being used efficiently. At first I was reluctant to outsource (pay) for an organizer believing that  could just shop around and figure it out myself. e proble is this never worked in the past for me. Ultimately, disorganization has led to increased spending on clothing items I couldn't find and/or frustration with the state of my home. After finding The Declutter Effect, I took a leap of faith and it has helped me psychologically and more importantly, financially.

 

They put in the time to get into contact with my future landlord to see the unit, and then offered potential options. The did all the footwork of going to look for the storage units, and showed me pictures and renderings along the way.  I felt well taken care of that this was a worthy investment. Also, is was not an expensive service. I am happy to have diverted my money into a service that allowed me to have peace of mind and also saved me from the costly habit of buying things that I don't need or value.

"If you've got to have brain surgery, then you want the best brain surgeon available, bar none. Well that's what you get with Maureen, The Declutter Effect and maestro of those famous enchanting words-"WOW- what a transformation". No, Maureen is not a brain surgeon, but Maureen is the best in her class, bar none. I am one guy who truly hates clutter, and yet I collect a ton of stuff. Not cheap crap either, just lots and lots of stuff not being used for decades now. I am an unwitting possessor of a junk haven -my garage- the storage chamber from hell.
